Job Summary

Working under the general supervision of the ServiceNow Practice Leader, the Principal ServiceNow Developer plays a key role in designing and delivering scalable and sustainable ServiceNow solutions across the enterprise. The responsibilities include owning architecture and platform design decisions, developing robust solutions aligned with best practices, and mentoring developers to ensure high-quality deliverables. The Principal Developer also collaborates with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions and ensures that delivered platform implementations are maintainable, efficient, and support business goals.

Responsibilities

Primary Job Duties

  • Leads platform architecture and solution design across modules including IT Service Management (ITSM), Customer Service Management (CSM), Technology Service Management (TSM), Field Service Management (FSM), and core ServiceNow functionality.
  • Builds and delivers scalable, maintainable solutions that align with ServiceNow best practices and support overall business goals.
  • Collaborates with Business Analysts, ServiceNow Administrators, and other developers to define technical specifications and translate business needs into effective ServiceNow solutions.
  • Serves as a senior technical advisor and mentor to junior developers, promoting code quality, reuse, and adherence to platform standards.
  • Designs and implements complex workflows, automations, integrations (e.g., REST APIs), and custom applications using JavaScript and ServiceNow platform tools.
  • Participates in sprint planning, peer code reviews, and architectural governance processes to ensure quality and consistency in solution delivery.
  • Stays current with ServiceNow releases and assesses opportunities to incorporate new features and capabilities into the platform.
  • Supports compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and other applicable controls by following established development processes and documentation standar

Qualifications

Required competencies:

  • Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow development, including designing and implementing solutions across modules such as IT Service Management, Customer Service
    Management, Technology Service Management, and Field Service Management, with deep knowledge of the platform’s architecture and best practices.
  • Strong experience with ServiceNow platform integrations (e.g., REST/SOAP APIs), client and server-side scripting (JavaScript), and workflow automation design.
  • Proven ability to translate complex business requirements into sustainable, maintainable ServiceNow solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively work across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders in a large enterprise environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex business requirements.
