Responsibilities

The Trade Compliance Specialist reviews orders on AE hold, collects and documents relevant data from the orders, and sends the information to the appropriate trade personnel for timely review. The Specialist releases approved orders from AE and EX hold and reviews subsequent changes made to the orders. The Specialist collaborates with various business partners to verify the accuracy of sales order items, billing and shipping addresses, freight forwarder contact information, and end destinations. The Specialist performs regular compliance screening functions related to product end-uses, denied parties, and export license requirements, using regulatory best practices, for all corporate business segment customers and active vendors. The Specialist assists with various administrative functions, including records retention, government filings, and reports related to EEIs and controlled products.
Reviews orders/quotes that have been flagged in the system for compliance with export requirements per an email notification of an order on hold.
  • Provides product classifications and shipment instructions within 24 hours.
  • Reviews and approves exemption requests and license exception requests.
  • Files required report(s) with the appropriate regulatory agencies.
 
Reviews export orders, notes issues, and escalates problems; follows-up on resolutions.
  • Maintains export compliance records.
  • Researches and screens customers for adhering to U.S. Export regulations.
  
Ensures the accuracy and compliance of various company-wide production processes related to export compliance.
  • Reviews export documentation, usage of correct commodity classifications, ECCN and country codes.
  • Ensures correct usage of filing exemption and licensing exception codes.
  • Assists with export returns requests.
  • Resolves export clearance issues with various third parties.
  
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of regulations related to the Department of Commerce and other U.S. regulatory agencies through training provided by the government and export professionals.

Qualifications

 

Basic ERP system knowledge with ability to navigate.
 
Basic report running utilizing a tool like Business Objects or Crystal Reports.
 
Basic proficiency is the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
 
Working knowledge of United States Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), including Export Control Classification Number (ECCN), Schedule B, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Automated Commercial Environment (ACE), denied parties, embargoed countries, and deemed export, etc. w
 
Ability to read and comprehend information contained in regulatory publications, Federal Register, and government agency bulletins.
 
Project coordination skill with ability to track tasks and assignments to completion.
 
Good communication, verbal and writing, skills in a cross functional/matrix environment.
 
Organized with ability to manage conflicting priorities.
 
Strong problem solving and analytical skills with ability to ensure export meets approved standards.
 
Detail oriented with ability to detect issues with orders.
