Working under minimal supervision of the IT PMO Director, referring only exceptional problems and issues for management review or approval, the Senior Technical Project Manager is a key leader within the IT Project Management Office, responsible for driving strategic initiatives and overseeing large, complex programs critical to achieving the organization’s business objectives. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, this role manages strategic programs and large projects across a broad spectrum of technologies and infrastructures. The Sr Technical Project Manager engages with senior leadership, including C-suite executives, to align program outcomes with the organization’s strategic goals.
• | Program and Project Leadership: Lead and manage large-scale programs consisting of multiple projects, including significant cloud-based initiatives leveraging Microsoft Azure. Establish and manage program plans, integrating individual project plans while driving overall program success. | |
• | Strategic Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with senior leadership, including C-suite executives, to understand strategic priorities, communicate program status, and align deliverables with organizational goals. Serve as a trusted advisor, offering strategic insights and data-driven recommendations. | |
• | Oversight and Coordination: Provide oversight to subordinate PMO members, setting clear objectives, monitoring progress, and ensuring that all projects within the program are successfully delivered on time, within budget, and in scope. | |
• | Resource Planning and Allocation: Identify and allocate resources effectively, coordinating with internal teams, contractors, and external vendors to optimize performance and meet program demands. | |
• | Risk and Issue Management: Anticipate potential risks and proactively develop mitigation strategies, especially in relation to cloud-based projects. Resolve escalated issues and implement contingency plans to safeguard program timelines and deliverables. | |
• | Budget and Financial Oversight: Oversee program budgets and expenditures, ensuring financial integrity and adherence to financial goals. Provide budgetary insights and updates to executive leadership. | |
• | Mentoring and Leadership Development: Mentor and coach PMO members, fostering a culture of professional growth and continuous improvement. Promote the development of leadership skills and program management expertise within the PMO. | |
• | Process and Methodology Adherence: Ensure that programs adhere to PMBOK standards and PMO methodologies, leveraging both Waterfall and Agile practices as appropriate. Contribute to refining PMO policies and processes to align with evolving business needs. | |
• | Change Management and Business Alignment: Lead change management initiatives that align project deliverables with dynamic business requirements. Work collaboratively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to drive programs that achieve strategic business outcomes. | |
