Senior Project Manager, VMware to Nutanix Migration

Connection has a fantastic opportunity through our Technical Staffing division for a Sr. Project Manager to lead and oversee a large-scale global VMware to Nutanix migration project in the Chicagoland area.  

This role will serve as the primary liaison between our partner, Connection, and our client, ensuring a smooth transition of over 15,000 VMs globally.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical understanding of VMware and Nutanix platforms, proven experience in enterprise-level infrastructure migrations, and excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Act as the primary project liaison between the partner, Connection, and stakeholders
• Oversee and manage all project phases of the VMware to Nutanix migration
• Lead and document project meetings, with regular updates to Connection executive leadership
• Monitor migration progress and ensure alignment with project timelines and milestones
• Create and maintain detailed project plans, reports, and schedules
• Manage billing, documentation, and reporting across multiple project management tools
• Identify and mitigate risks and issues throughout the migration lifecycle
• Coordinate change management activities and support global teams as needed

• 8+ years of Project Management experience, ideally in IT infrastructure or data center migration projects
• Strong technical knowledge of VMware and Nutanix environments
• Proven experience managing global-scale migrations or infrastructure transformations
• Familiarity with enterprise PM tools like Planview, MS Project, JIRA, etc.
• Excellent stakeholder communication, reporting, and executive presentation skills
• Ability to work independently while managing third-party vendors and internal teams
• Located in Illinois with the ability to attend meetings at North Chicago as needed.
