Overview

Director, Warehouse System Operations

The Director, Warehouse Systems Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for the Technology Integration & Distribution Center’s warehouse systems environment, including Warehouse Management System (WMS), Warehouse Execution System (WES/WEI), Warehouse Control System (WCS), and related material flow technologies. In this role, you will help ensure warehouse systems support reliable daily operations while continuously improving system performance, inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, and customer experience.

You will lead the Warehouse Systems Operations team responsible for system administration, configuration, production support, issue resolution, change management, enhancements, reporting, training, and system stability. This position works closely with Operations, IT, Engineering, Automation, and other cross-functional partners to help warehouse technology enable accurate, efficient, and scalable execution across receiving, inventory management, production, integration services, kitting, ATC, shipping, and reverse logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Warehouse Systems Leadership
    • Lead and support core warehouse systems operations, including user administration, configuration, business rules, reporting, production support, performance monitoring, and system availability.
    • Help ensure systems consistently support business needs, maintain strong uptime, and contribute to operational excellence across the warehouse.
  • Daily Operations Management
    • Oversee daily system operations, including production monitoring, queue management, exception handling, inventory transactions, order processing, troubleshooting, user support, shift readiness, and system health validation.
    • Coordinate response during production incidents to help restore normal operations, reduce disruption, and support internal and external customers.
  • Warehouse Systems Administration
    • Oversee system administration and configuration, including user security, roles and permissions, workflow configuration, business rules, location management, inventory parameters, task management, RF and mobile applications, label printing, interface monitoring, batch processing, and dashboards.
    • Maintain system integrity, governance, and standardized processes across warehouse functions.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that may increase productivity, improve inventory accuracy, enhance system utilization, reduce order cycle time, improve labor efficiency, strengthen service performance, improve quality, standardize processes, reduce exceptions, and expand automation capabilities.
    • Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, eliminate manual workarounds, and improve system-enabled execution.
  • WMS & WCS Optimization
    • Partner with warehouse operations to optimize receiving, put-away, replenishment, wave planning, task interleaving, pick paths, shipping, inventory control, directed work, equipment utilization, and material flow.
    • Evaluate configuration changes that improve warehouse performance while avoiding unnecessary customization.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership
    • Collaborate with Warehouse Operations, Automation & Controls Engineering, IT, ERP Applications, PMO, Client Success, Engineering, Quality, Finance, Facilities, Safety, and Executive Leadership.
    • Serve as the primary bridge between warehouse operations and technology teams, translating business needs into practical system capabilities.
  • Performance Metrics
    • Monitor and report on key performance indicators, which may include system availability, throughput, inventory accuracy, service-level performance, productivity, queue processing time, order cycle time, user response time, incident resolution time, transaction accuracy, and labor efficiency.
    • Develop executive dashboards and operational reporting that enable data-driven decision-making.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, Business, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in warehouse systems, distribution operations, supply chain technology, or related leadership roles.
  • 5+ years of experience managing, supporting, or administering enterprise WMS environments.
  • Experience supporting warehouse or distribution center operations, preferably in an automated environment.
  • Experience leading cross-functional work, supporting production operations, and improving business or system processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enterprise WMS platforms such as Manhattan, Blue Yonder, Körber, Oracle WMS, SAP EWM, HighJump, or Softeon.
  • Warehouse execution and control systems, material flow control, conveyor systems, sortation, robotics integration, AMRs, and ASRS.
  • Enterprise applications and integrations, including Oracle JD Edwards (E1), SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, ERP integrations, API integrations, and SQL databases.
  • Reporting and analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Excel, operational dashboards, and KPI reporting.
  • Customer-focused mindset and service orientation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to coordinate incident response and support effective change management.
  • Ability to develop teams and communicate clearly with a range of stakeholders, including senior leaders.
